WORDS OF EDITORWith continuous deepening of our national economicrestructuring and constant improvement of investment envi-ronment,direct foreign investments in China are increasingday by day.During the development of economic andtechnological cooperation between China and other coun-tries,overseas friends are eager to know the laws oninvestment as well as regulations on taxation promulgated bythe Chinese government,and those engaged in foreign tradeand economic affairs in our country also need to consult fre-quently and have a good comnd of these laws.In orderto meet the needs,we have compiled this booklet as a sequelof "Provisions Concerned of the People's Republic of Chinafor the Encouragement of Foreign Investment."Besides,inthe appendix we have collected the provisions of the StateCouncil of thd People's Republic of China for encouragingTaiwan compatriots'investment and for encouraginginvestment to develop Hainan Island,only in Chinese,forthe reference of personnel concerned at home and abroad.We take the Chinese versions of the published provi-sions and regulations as the standard texts in our collectionand have them printed in both Chinese and English.TheChinese version of4 Sumry of Tax Incentives forForeigners Who Invest in China"which has been publishedin English on China Daily,was provided by the State Ad-ministration of Taxation,to whom we owe our sincerethanks。EditorSep.1988
